Job Summary
This position directs all School of Art (SoA) technology services. Independently assess, plan, and implement technology solutions in service of the academic mission of the SoA while maintaining compliance with University policies, procedures, and guidelines. Monitor and modify technology solutions as needed to ensure currency with academic needs and industry standards. Provide technical services and support for SoA faculty, staff, and labs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure and maintain computers in classrooms, labs and offices.
  • Provide analysis and consultation for SoA programs for purchases of new technology and software.
  • Provide technical support for SoA faculty and staff.
  • Database application development and maintenance.
  • Manage Art Print Center, classroom locker rentals, and Gallery Exhibition media equipment.
  • Lead SOA discourse on comprehensive technology needs and goals of various programs, define and implement solutions.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    Professional demeanor, good communication skills, ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical people. Expertise in managing Mac OS X and iOS deployments of 200 stations or more. Expertise using the technologies and software associated with deployment and management of large Mac OS and iOS installations, including Jamf Pro, Munki, Apple System Image Utility, Apple Remote Desktop, Terminal, Plist Buddy, and software packaging utilities. Knowledge and skill deploying, securing, and maintaining dual-boot Mac labs running Windows using Bootcamp and VMWare. Expertise installing, securing, maintaining and providing services on Mac OS X Server. Expertise managing server-based software licensing systems. Expertise using Applescript and the Apple BSD UNIX variant for managing Macs. Expertise developing and managing database systems, with emphasis on PostgreSQL, MySQL, FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Pro Server. Expertise in web technologies, with emphasis on HTML, PHP, Javascript, Drupal, and WordPress. Winning candidate will be managing mixed macOS and Windows versions of a variety of software, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Extensis Suitcase Fusion, Fontographer, Corel Painter, ToonBoom Harmony, TVPaint, Autodesk Maya, Pixologic Zbrush, Trimble SketchUp, McNeel Rhinocerous, Mechsoft Magics, and Simplify 3D, among others. Good time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and complete technical projects with many interruptions.

    Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

    Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, Communications, or related technical field and two years of related experience required.
  • Significant experience with Mac OS and iOS configuration, deployment, remote management, and support preferred.
  • Significant experience developing FileMaker Pro databases and firm understanding of relational databases preferred.
  • Proficiency using and managing Jamf Pro preferred.
  • A valid CA driver's license required.

    Compensation
    The targeted salary may be set as high as $5,666 per month based on experience. The salary range for this classification is $4,372 to $10,792 per month.

    Time Base
    Full-time temporary position for three years with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
