Associate Director of Counseling Services/Director of Clinical Services

 

Counseling Services at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Counseling Services/Director of Clinical Services. The associate director will be responsible for ensuring that Counseling Services is providing appropriate clinical services that meet the mental health needs of a diverse student body.

 

The Associate Director of Counseling Services/Director of Clinical Services will oversee clinical operations, provide clinical supervision for unlicensed/provisionally-licensed counselors, coordinate the psychological withdrawal and return processes within Counseling Services for the University, oversee and participate in Counseling Services’ on-call and crisis services, partner to ensure students are offered appropriate psychiatry services, and serve on campus committees. In addition, 30% of the Associate Director of Counseling Services/Director of Clinical Services’ time will be spent directly seeing clients. 

 

Requirements: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, counselor education, social work, or a closely related field. Terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., Psy.D., DSW.) preferred. Successful candidates will have extensive experience as a clinician in a college/university counseling center or a multidisciplinary outpatient mental health center, extensive experience meeting the mental health needs of a diverse population, and supervisory experience, preferably in a university setting.

 

Candidates must be currently licensed in South Carolina to practice counseling and provide clinical supervision to counselors. Candidates who are not currently licensed to practice counseling and supervise counselors in South Carolina are encouraged to explore licensure requirements in South Carolina prior to submitting their application to ensure they will be able to appropriately meet the requirement to become licensed within one year of hire.

Primary work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, this position will require varying work hours and weekend work. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
