Assistant Professor of Computer Science

The Computing & Information Science (CIS) Department at Mercyhurst University seeks a tenure- track Assistant Professor of Computer Science for the Spring 2021 term. Candidates must have a doctorate degree in computer science or a related discipline. Master of Science candidates will also be considered but for a non-tenure track position. Applications will be considered until the position has been filled.

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for teaching introductory and advanced courses in computer science at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The department is especially looking for a candidate with the ability to teach Python Programming, Operating Systems, and Databases. Knowledge in Machine Learning, and Data Science field is a plus.

We are looking for a passionate teacher with the ability to work effectively with others in a collegial environment dedicated to student learning. The department offers undergraduate programs in computer science, data science, and cybersecurity and graduate programs in data science, cyber security, and cyber risk management. Our department is experiencing major growth.

The selected candidate must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, continued learning in their field, academic scholarship, and public scholarship. The candidate must demonstrate an ability and willingness to teach both graduate and undergraduate classes in person and online.
