The Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences at Mercy College (NY) invites applications for two full-time faculty positions to begin September 2021.  We seek to fill one position in the area of Mathematics and one in Computer Science. These positions will be tenure-eligible, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and the needs of the College. As a campus committed to serving a very diverse student body, we encourage applications from women, minorities, individuals with good communication skills, and those with a demonstrated commitment to mentoring underrepresented students in STEM fields.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in their respective field by the appointment date; for the Mathematics position, we will also consider applicants with a doctorate in Mathematics Education, and those with a Master’s degree in Mathematics who also have evidence of exceptional teaching and a strong record of student outreach and recruitment.

The Computer Science position will help grow a new master’s program in Computer Science and will primarily teach undergraduate and graduate courses at our Manhattan campus. The applicant should have good communication skills and is expected to hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or related discipline by the appointment date. All areas of specialization in Computer Science will be considered, with preference given to applicants able to teach courses in data science, machine learning, computer networking, and application development.

Applicants should send a complete application consisting of a cover letter addressing the qualifications; curriculum vitae; a statement of teaching philosophy that includes a description of the applicant’s experience with student diversity and working in multicultural environments; contact information for at least three professional references; and copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable for the purpose of application). Examples of scholarship, including published work, and course curricula are also welcome. Finalists will be asked to submit three current letters of reference. Applicants are encouraged to apply via the Mercy College website (https://jobs.mercy.edu) by October 23rd.
