Position Summary:
Since its beginning in 1895, the School of Music, renamed the Mead Witter School of Music in 2016, has lived out a commitment to a rigorous, student-centered musical education. This position is responsible for financial duties within the Mead Witter School of Music in the College of Letters and Science. In addition to issuing specific purchase orders and noncontract blanket orders, the Purchasing Office issues orders against UW-Madison, UW System, and Department of Administration contracts. The position provides advice regarding the regulations, policies, rules and guidelines to faculty, staff and graduate assistants pertaining to purchasing or reimbursement procedures within the University System. This position monitors and maintains multiple, complex spreadsheets that are reconciled with the UW's Financial System, WISER. This position provides financial management, purchasing and reporting for the Department's various accounts, including GPR (101), gifts and endowments (233) and UW System Trust Fund accounts.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
- One year of finance experience in an academic setting preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience auditing travel expenses to ensure compliance.
- Experience monitoring financial transactions using a web-based financial tracking system.
- Experience processing financial transactions through a web-based reimbursement system.
- Experience developing and maintaining financial spreadsheets.
- Familiarity with policies and procedures as they relate to travel reimbursements and other financial transactions.
Additional Information:
- Ability to work independently and follow policy and procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to mulit-task.
