Job Summary
The Academic Advising Systems Analyst Analyzes and evaluates CSULB curriculum and General Education requirements in order to implement and maintain systems to support Major Specific Declaration Requirements and Degree Requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the analysis of complex major declaration and
degree requirements, construction and development of a coding
schema based on the delivered PeopleSoft functionality, executing
such coding, and testing and validating the desired
results.
- In addition, this position is also responsible for
documentation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
related to accuracy and reliability as well as evaluating upgrades
and fixes associated with the Academic Advising Systems
module.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities - Demonstrated ability to understand academic curriculum, with
its myriad majors and options, and its complex set of General
Education requirements.
- Able to perform analysis, detailed coding, testing, and
documentation with a high level of accuracy to maintain and expand
the scope of the advising tools in order to meet the business needs
of the university.
- Ability to use PeopleSoft tools to effect the curriculum
revisions promulgated by Academic Affairs is preferred.
- Ability to update, analyze and interpret data using information
databases.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply academic and
administrative policies and procedures.
- Ability to analyze user needs and translate into appropriate
complex rules in support of business processes.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve system-related
problems.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and to establish and
maintain successful working relationships with Enrollment Services
leadership, peers, faculty and students within a diverse campus
community.
- Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally
diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university
policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to
safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination
policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive
university experience for each and every student, and assist in
achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of
excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in applicable field and two years of direct work experience required.

Compensation
The targeted salary may be set as high as $3,750 per month based on experience. The salary range for this classification is $3,288 to $6,347 per month.
Time Base
Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
