Institutional Advancement Digital Graphic Designer

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
UVU is seeking a Digital Graphic Designer to provide leadership and artistic direction on a variety of print and digital media. Coordinates multiple projects of development-focused graphic design, including publications, event collateral, reports, presentations, signage, and marketing and strategic communication materials. Ability to lead and provide visual strategy for divisional initiatives. As part of the Utah Valley University Institutional Advancement Marketing & Strategic Communications team the Digital/Graphic Designer will support both internal and external communications initiatives across a variety of channels. A detailed eye for design as well as the ability to multitask and take projects from start to finish with minimum oversight are critical skills.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree with one to two years of experience in Summary of Duties OR any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling five years.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and expertise with digital design to help support strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing, designing, and implementing marketing,
    promotions, and communications collateral.
  • Knowledge of Web 2.0 tools, coding, and resources, as well as experience in all phases of
    publication and production.
  • Knowledge and experience with project management within a professional
    design/production setting.
  • Knowledge of designing to social media and other digital platforms.
  • Knowledge of digital media production, management, and measurement
  • Proficient in graphic design and expert knowledge of Adobe CS (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and other graphic software.
  • Exceptional skills in writing and editing.
  • Skills and experience with web site development, coding, and content development.
  • Proficient skills with HTML, XML, and other web-related software as well as with Microsoft Office Suite and other productivity software.
  • Skills and experience working within Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Skills and knowledge of social media software, culture, and marketing tactics.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work creatively with an approved institutional graphic identity.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to provide effective client service and support.


Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design with one to two years of work experience in a higher educational setting.


Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a normal office environment.
