West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Pediatric Neonatology physician to join our established group in our tertiary care NICU practice qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of Pediatric Neonatology at our expanding Children’s Hospital. In addition to providing excellent patient care, he or she will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, and improving the care of neonatal patients through quality improvement projects or research.

Successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at other worksites, including but not necessarily limited to, West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc., West Virginia University Medical Corporation doing business as “University Health Associates,” Mon Health Medical Center, Wheeling Hospital and Berkeley Medical Center [etc.] located in West Virginia and, as such, travel is anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these other worksites.

Qualifications: Candidates must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatrics residency program and be fellowship trained and board certified/eligible in neonatology. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. A rank of Professor also requires substantial evidence of a national or international reputation in your clinical specialty. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

With an anticipated opening of mid 2021, our new 150 bed Children’s Hospital and Women’s Pavilion will have a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital will include 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 31 PICU beds, Heart Institute, and a dedicated Cancer Institute. WVU Medicine Children’s is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. The Women’s Pavilion will house a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
