Job Summary

Performs one or more of the following farm related or agricultural essential technical tasks at an agriculture research/teaching facility.

Essential Functions

Operates and performs minor maintenance and repair on various research and farm equipment such as trucks, tractors, pickers, combines, lawn care equipment and research equipment. Repairs and maintains facilities which include houses, barns, storage buildings, fences and corrals. Cares for animals which includes feeding, watering, administering medication, and transporting in compliance with regulations and research protocols and other defined criteria. Constructs, repairs, and maintains facilities which may include (but is not limited to) houses, barns, storage buildings, fences, corrals, and processing facilities. Assists in soil preparation, planting, fertilizing, and harvesting crops used for research. May assist in collecting, recording and/or reporting various observations, measurements or other information for research projects. May clean pens, stables, barns and pits.

Minimum Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and/or skill to perform a limited variety of simple, repetitive tasks related to animal care and farming operations. Knowledge of farming operations and animal husbandry. Possession of a valid drivers license, ability to obtain a pesticide license may be required in specific positions. Candidate needs to have knowledge of daily operations of a farm and maintenance of animal care.

Desired Qualifications

Must have good time management skills as certain aspect of projects require work done in a timely manner. Must be able to work well with others, team player.
