The College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities ( CASSH ) includes departments and programs in the humanities, social sciences and interdisciplinary studies, as well departments in the School of Visual and Performing Arts ( VPA ). CASSH / VPA continues the established liberal studies tradition of providing curricula leading to the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Science degree.
CASSH / VPA is dedicated to providing quality innovative instruction and creative learning experiences which prepares students for future careers and education. More broadly, such learning allows students to continue to develop meaningful, responsible lives. Position Summary
Under general supervision of department chair, a person in this position is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses. In addition to preparing for and holding classes [face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online], teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. In addition, workload may involve advising students and/or providing other service to the department. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.
The Department of Ethnic and Racial Studies invites applications from qualified candidates to teach Introduction to Ethnic and Racial Studies when the need arises due to staffing changes or programmatic needs. Teaching assignments are traditionally arranged for one term but can be renewed based on program needs.

Required Qualifications
These teaching assignments require a Master’s Degree in Ethnic Studies or a very closely related field [except in rare circumstances where post-baccalaureate certification or licensure or a baccalaureate plus experience can be established as appropriate qualifications for the teaching position].
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with doctoral degrees are preferred.
Additional criteria considered in evaluating applications may include relevant teaching experience, commitment to quality instruction, and/or professional experience germane to instructional needs.
