Manages the day-to-day operations of a small or medium-sized university program or department. May supervise staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.Job Duties

  1. Plans and develops procedures for administering a small or medium-sized department or program.
  2. Oversees program expenditures and ensures adherence to budget.
  3. Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
  4. May prepare or participate in the creation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
  5. Reviews reports of budgets and activities. Prepares ad hoc reports as needed.
  6. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
  7. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
  8. May serve as property custodian for the department.
  9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Duties:
- Creates and maintains data reporting mechanisms for PHLS graduate programs and collaborates with program directors
and other relevant college entities to streamline reporting of data.
- Coordinates data collection for APARS (annual Academic Program Assessment Reports) for ELPS and PHLS programs.
- Manages an update-to-date list of all approved ELPS and PHLS practicum placements and their MOUs.
- Aids faculty in developing APA, TEA, and CACREP self-studies and related correspondence.
- Monitors data collection in FEGO, VIA, and Trevera and enters data in these systems, as applicable.
- Manages the maintenance of student permanent files.
- Manages data collection, data entry, as applicable, and data reporting for advanced certification programs in ELPS.
- Manages data collection (and data entry, as applicable) for all reports that may be required by the College of Education,
Graduate School, University of Houston, Texas Coordinating Board for Higher Education, etc.
- Supports Chairs and Program Managers of ELPS and PHLS, as well as the COE Office of Graduate Studies.
- Engages in other duties as assigned by the Chairs of ELPS and PHLS

Qualifications :

Bachelors and No experience

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: No experience required.

Notes to Applicant: This position is expected to last for a duration of one year only. The position will be jointly housed in the department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) and the department of Psychological, Health, and Learning Sciences (PHLS), both within the College of Education.
