Position Summary:
Manager of Communications and Marketing for Enrollment Management

The Manager of Communications for Enrollment Management will serve to meet the communication and marketing needs of the Enrollment Management offices. The Manager will report to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management. Working in concert with the Enrollment Management Leadership team (EMLT) and in collaboration with Strategy, Marketing and Communications, this position is responsible for creating, developing and implementing an integrated communication/marketing plan. The Manager will plan, advance, and assess all communication and marketing strategies and all forms of communication of the Enrollment Management Division with a high standard of excellence. All communication and marketing will be developed strategically for various audiences including prospective students, parents, high school guidance counselors and other stakeholders. Target audiences will be diverse and all messages should comply with and promote MSU Denver branding. The Manager will be part of the Enrollment Management Office and shares responsibility to ensure the University is meeting enrollment and retention goals and supports the desire of the University to attract and retain diverse students, as well as supports the HSI designation. The Manager will be an intentional and inclusive leader in supporting diverse academic, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds of University personnel and students while establishing and fostering positive working relationships inside and outside of the University. The Manager with work with EMLT to assess communication needs; will select the most effective means of communication and create/implement the appropriate messages and materials for each population/project. Required to keep well-informed with the most current communication/marketing trends with special emphasis on the trends being implemented by Enrollment Management nationally. The Manager will be a member of the EMLT, will work with staff and faculty across campus, and will serve as the liaison Strategy, Communications and Marketing (to coordinate the communication and marketing needs of our Division with those of the University. Responsible for promoting information flow within our Division and the University and for taking a leadership role in effective relations with local, regional, state, national, and international constituents. Manager should have excellent relational skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. In closing, the Manager is responsible for developing and executing an integrated marketing communications plan, promoting brand identity, working with market research findings, identifying and reaching target audiences, generating imaginative solutions, producing excellent print and digital communication materials, and collaborating with various teams.

Duties/Responsibilities:
40% - Communication Plan
• Creates, leads and manages the Enrollment Management Communications Committee as an extension of the associate vice president.
• The Manager is responsible for developing and executing an integrated marketing communications plan, promoting brand identity, working with market research findings, identifying and reaching target audiences, generating imaginative solutions, producing excellent print and electronic communication materials and digital advertisements. Collaborates with the Strategy, Marketing and Communications and Enrollment teams.
35% - External Communication
• In collaboration with Strategy, Marketing and Communications, manages and updates the enrollment management website content using the University’s content management system. The Manager will also oversee all Enrollment Management websites to ensure they are up to date.
• Collaborates with Strategy, Marketing and Communications in development and deployment of social media messaging to notify students of upcoming deadlines, important dates, and students activities correlated with Enrollment Management (i.e. Open House, SALT, Welcome Back activities, registration events, etc.), and recruiting campaigns.
• Coordinate and send out text messages on behalf of Enrollment Management.
• Work closely with respective agencies in the creation, development, implementation, delivery and assessment of all print materials, posters, presentations, web designs/upgrades, messages, email campaigns, social media, digital advertising, video work, etc. Ensure that messages are on-brand; appropriate for the intended audiences; meet the purpose of the project/program/campaign; are within budget guidelines; and meet the deadlines dictated by our communication/recruiting plans.
• Work with Slate to align Enrollment Management offices with strategic email communications.
20%- Internal Communication
• Oversee internal communications for Enrollment Management.
• Develops and sends out the Enrollment Management Weekly Update to all staff. Uses sound judgment in determining items for the update as to not disclose any confidential information between the directors and AVP.
• Serve on committees and work groups in order to have a more well-rounded understanding of the University goals and how our communication ties in.
• Collaboration with other campus offices, departments, and programs to coordinate Enrollment Communications with other campus events.
5% Other
• Anaylze marketing strategies being implemented by competitor institutions. Keep abreast with communication trends, especially as it relates to recruiting and retention. Identify and implement new technology and methods of enrollment marketing as they become available (social media, digital advertising, etc). Creatively develop unique and innovative strategies on a yearly basis to maximize potential and to meet the enrollment goals of the University. Each year the communication plan must be assessed for overall effectiveness and value in the pursuit of enrollment goals. Must understand and interpret data trends in order to draw a comparative analysis to previous years. With these comparisons, Manager is responsible for identifying patterns and creating initiatives to respond to the trends.
• Stays abreast of industry developments including, but not limited to, changes in regulations, technology, and best practices, to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
• Support and engage in Anti-Racism efforts pursued by the Enrollment Management Division.
• Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience with project management related to professional marketing communications projects and/or campaigns.
• Customer service experience.
• Experience using social media outlets.
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
• Experience using a customer relationship management system (CRM).


Preferred Qualifications:
• A master’s degree in communications, marketing, advertising or closely related field.
• Experience working in higher education.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with project management related to professional marketing communications projects and/or campaigns.
