The Department of Mathematics and Computational Sciences at Millikin University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Applied Mathematics and/or Computer Science to commence on August 1, 2021. The initial appointment is expected to be at the rank of Assistant Professor, though appointment at a higher rank commensurate with experience is possible.

 

A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline conferred before August 2021 is required for a tenure-track position. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching is required. A full-time teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. At least half of this load will be computer science classes. The successful applicant must maintain a program of active scholarship and supervise research projects by undergraduate students. Other duties include advising students and committee responsibilities.

 

Millikin University is a private, comprehensive institution serving approximately 2,100 undergraduate, graduate, full-time and part-time students who study in four colleges/schools: Arts and Sciences, Business, Fine Arts and Professional Studies. Millikin’s Department of Mathematics and Computational Sciences offers majors in mathematics, actuarial science, data science, mathematics education (secondary certification), and computer science, as well as dual-degree partnerships in engineering. The Department has approximately 60 students majoring across our offerings. Over the past decade, 100% of our majors have secured employment or entered graduate school within six months after graduation. The Department teaches many courses in support of the University's general education program and in support of the Tabor School of Business.
