Job Description:

The College of Wooster is seeking an Assistant/Associate Director of Experiential Learning (EL) in the center for Advising, Planning and Experiential Learning (APEX). Reporting to the Director of Experiential Learning and Community Engagement, the Assistant/Associate Director manages existing EL programming, and assists in visioning, promoting, and executing programming to support the College's recently endorsed strategic initiatives around EL, interdisciplinary curricular and professional pathways, and diversity and inclusion. The Assistant/Associate Director holds significant responsibility for advising students. Programs and outreach in EL will be especially important to the College's focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and offering every student the opportunity for experiential learning. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the intellectual vibrancy and diversity of Wooster's campus community through a sincere passion for, expertise, and understanding of these principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Experiential Learning team to develop and execute EL opportunities
  • Advise students on Experiential Learning opportunities
  • Manage internship programs including APEX Fellowships (the College's signature funded, mentored summer internship program) and Parker Dewey micro-internships
  • Partner and coordinate with the other offices in APEX including Career Planning, Global Engagement and Entrepreneurship, and other relevant offices across campus such as International Student Services to build and promote internship opportunities
  • Work with the Strategic Initiative efforts to formalize EL credentialing of extra- and co-curricular activities
  • Manage the Experiential Learning Mini Grants program
  • Liaison with APEX Marketing Team to promote programming
  • Other duties as assigned



Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent; Master's Degree (M.A.) preferred; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact comfortably with a wide range of individuals.
  • Knowledge of EL opportunities and experiences that serve Liberal Arts students
  • Demonstrated experience advising and addressing the needs of diverse student populations, including BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color)/underrepresented/international students and those who bring a range of experiences, traditions, identities, perspectives, beliefs and disciplines
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, including experience with building programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with and/or an understanding of the Liberal Arts
  • Track record of planning, promoting and executing inclusive events and activities is highly desirable
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
