Position Summary:

The Director of Investigator Support Services is responsible for developing and enhancing pathways for faculty to successfully engage in investigator-initiated clinical research within the academic health system (AHS) and establishing streamlined and documented processes for navigating the local research infrastructure and approval requirements. Further, the director ensures consistent messaging and communication with clinical research teams, health system partners, and other stakeholders. This position has dual functional reporting lines to the Chief Clinical Research Officer and Executive Director of the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) with whom the position will interact jointly. The incumbent will participate as an active member of ICTR and the clinical trials leadership teams, representing their combined interests by participating in strategic planning, goal setting, and implementation of the infrastructure, processes and systems to support efficient and high-quality clinical research at UW-Madison and UW Health.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Master's degree required. Focus in biomedical or health sciences preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-At least 10 or more years of leadership experience in directing, organizing, and establishing clinical research programs required.
-At least 5 years of experience within an academic health care setting required.
-Prior supervisory experience required.
-Knowledge of translational research continuum (T0-T5) and familiarity navigating different research sites and settings preferred.
-Previous involvement with NIH's Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program highly desirable.
