Part-Time Athletic Trainer Department: Athletics and Physical Education Location: Washington, DC
Position Start Date: November 2020
Status: Part-Time
Sidwell Friends, a co-educational Quaker day school, with campuses in Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD, seeks applicants for a part-time certified athletic trainer. The School has outstanding athletics facilities including an all-weather track, four full size gyms, a fitness center, three fields (including two artificial turf fields), a large dance studio and six tennis courts. Specific duties include supervising the treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, providing athletic trainer coverage of athletic practices and contests, documenting injury evaluations, maintaining treatment records and other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer or Director of Athletics.
Hours each day will vary depending on practice and game coverage each week. The assistant athletic trainer will be expected to arrive at school at 3:00 p.m. when assigned weekday practices and should expect assignments on Saturday too. Start times will vary depending on practices and games.
It is expected that the assistant athletic trainer will maintain a high standard of integrity in all aspects of their performance, foster a culture in the training room that embraces the Quaker values of the School and academic experience of the student.
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of successful experience at the collegiate or high school level, and/or in an club/AAU setting. A bachelors degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred with a Masters Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program. Applicants must be certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer. A Valid Driver's License and CPR/AED certification is required. Job related experience as an athletic trainer is required. Working in a high school setting is preferred.
