Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Student Development Services, the Project Director provides leadership and administrative oversight of all aspects of the federal TRiO Student Support Service ( SSS ) grant program designed to support the success of low-income, first-generation college students. This individual serves as a member of the Vice President’s senior leadership team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Hires, trains, supervises, manages, leads and evaluates all TRIO Student Support Services staff comprising administrative support, an academic advisor, and tutoring personnel;
• Identifies, selects, monitors and serves program participants;
• Develops, manages and ensures appropriate use of the TRIO SSS grant budget and authorizes program expenditures;
• Communicates with Department of Education project specialists regarding status of TRIO SSS program and progress towards meeting program objectives;
• Prepares and submits Department of Education annual performance and financial reports;
• Monitors progress toward achieving program objectives
• Maintains appropriate program records, prepares and submits time and effort reports and mandated compliance reports;
• Conducts records audit to ensure accuracy of record-keeping and compliance
• Collaborates with various district and campus departments to ensure effective and efficient functioning of TRIO SSS program and to connect TRIO SSS students to services, resources, programs and opportunities;
• Tracks student participation, engagement and academic performance data and reviews data regularly to inform operations and interventions;
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite;
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC );
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College;
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Five (5) years of administrative and managerial experience in an educational setting
• Three (3) years of experience in designing, managing, or implementing TRIO or similar programs and
• Three (3) years of experience in proposal writing and securing of funds through grant applications

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Prior experience working in TRIO Student Support Services
• Strong awareness/familiarity with the target student population served by TRIO Student Support Services and/or individual participation in TRIO SSS or similar program
• Experience in developing strategic, data-informed interventions and engagement strategies to improve student learning, retention, success and completion
• Experience in grant and fiscal management
• Prior experience working within a community college or higher education setting
• Bilingual – Spanish

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

• Extensive knowledge of, and sensitivity toward, challenges of minority and disadvantaged students
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent customer services and interpersonal skills
