About the Opportunity:
The D'Amore-McKim School of Business is looking for a highly-motivated and talented individual to fill the role of Instructional Designer. The Instructional Designer (ID) works as a member of the Instructional Design Group (IDG) by designing online, hybrid, and traditional learning opportunities with an emphasis on 21st century business skills. Additionally, the ID will be responsible for faculty/staff support, training, and outreach, LMS and course maintenance, and researching the latest trends and tools.

Responsibilities:

Instructional Design
Assist in the development, design, and delivery of digital learning objects and exercises that emphasize 21st century business skills. Assess current course designs for opportunities to enhance the teaching and learning experience. Develop and maintain a professional awareness of the research on teaching and learning, and applies these principles to learning object and course design.

LMS and Course Maintenance
Assist in the smooth operation of online, hybrid, and traditional undergraduate and graduate business courses, including course copy and course revision initiatives. Identify potential problems in course delivery and user experience; respond to just-in-time issues.

Faculty Support, Training, and Outreach
Assist in the design and development of training on academic technology tools, and support documentation of best practices. Seek out and support faculty who demonstrate a willingness to develop innovative teaching practices via technology. Identify gaps in faculty use of technology and develop strategies to enhance productivity and improve student learning outcomes. Respond promptly to technical troubleshooting issues.

Research and Pilot Testing
Assist the IDG ins seek out emerging trends in education technology and research technologies for potential adoption. Administer recurring system tests for reliability and pursue solutions both within and outside of university-licensed tools. Maintain a database that evaluates existing and potential tools for adoption. Liaise with and contribute to the community of education technology professionals on campus.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred) and at least three years of experience working in instructional design, academic technology support, faculty/staff development, or teaching in an educational or professional setting.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in using technology to promote faculty/staff efficiency and positive learning outcomes.
  • Experience in assisting professional audiences and a demonstrated ability to develop a positive rapport with those audiences through professionalism and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in non-technical language and to think critically about relevance of technologies.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, articulate solutions, and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Familiarity with academic technologies that promote collaboration, interactivity, active and reflective learning, and critical thinking.
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and apply them in an educational setting.
