William James College, located just west of Boston, is seeking a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor for its dynamic and innovative School Psychology Department with a flexible start date. Rank is commensurate with experience.

The School Psychology Department offers a specialist (MA/CAGS) degree in School Psychology (NASP Approved) as well as a MA in Applied Behavior Analysis and a CAGS degree program in School Climate: Multicultural Education and Social-Emotional Learning (Beginning Fall 2021) The school psychology curriculum incorporates rigorous academic instruction with supervised field training in a variety of settings. The WJC mission features the core values of experiential education, social responsibility, and personal growth. The school psychology program emphasizes prevention, mental health, social justice, and systems-level impact. Teaching and mentoring students are of primary importance, and faculty salaries are competitive.

Qualifications/Responsibilities

Candidates should be licensed/certified school psychologists (NCSP Preferred) and hold a doctoral degree in school psychology; Licensed (or license-eligible) Psychologists are a plus.

The ideal candidate has a professional affiliation with the field of school psychology and has relevant school-based field experience as well as demonstrated skill in higher education teaching. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in diversity and cross-cultural psychology, clinical seminars at the practicum and internship levels, and other courses depending on the candidate’s interest and course availability. Additional responsibilities include interfacing with Teachers 21, advising students, and serving on institution-wide doctoral project committees. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to institution-wide initiatives that focus on mental health disparities in underserved communities.

In addition, a demonstrated record of scholarly work defined broadly (e.g., community engagement, educational leadership, innovation, or research) is preferred. Successful candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.  We are seeking applicants with interest, expertise, and/or experience in serving urban youth, families, and communities. A strong commitment to, and experience in, working with groups that are underrepresented in school psychology is highly preferred. The successful candidate will also have a role in mentoring students in the Black Mental Health Graduate Academy.
