Primary Purpose of Position
The Retention Specialist is responsible for the retention and
degree completion of TRIO participants. The Retention Specialist
will conduct intakes to access academic need, monitor participants'
academic progress, and help participants design academic plans to
achieve their goals. The Retention Specialist will provide academic
counseling regarding course selection, degree options, and
strategies to improve academic performance. The Retention
Specialist will also create and host a variety of workshops,
activites, and events to participants' academic skills. This
position will also identity participants who are on Academic
Probation and participants with early alert referrals to coordinate
efforts in creating a plan to improve their academic performance.
Additionally, the position will identify participants who are not
registered for classes and make address the needs of those
participants. Duties include:
- Provide leadership to retention initiatives for TRIO SSS participants
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to the academic progress and academic performance of participants
- Create and host programming for participants related to improving academic performance
- Utilize Blumen for data entry and analysis
- Collaborate with campus departments to connect participants with campus resources
- Other duties assigned by the Senior Program Coordinator to fulfill the objectives of the program

Note: This is a time-limited, grant funded position through August 31, 2025.
Min T/E Requirements
Master's Degree preferred or a Bachelor's Degree and at least two
years of experience working with high school and/or college age
students. Preference given to individuals with experience working
with a TRIO program or experience working with similar TRIO
programs.
