Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
Under general supervision, this individual will develop, prepare and teach Aviation Systems Technology courses within the department. Faculty will also be responsible for advising and recruiting students and collaborating with business and industry partners to provide necessary training and education. The faculty member must be able to demonstrate correct operation and supervise operation in all or most of the following areas listed: . Aircraft and trainers in the AST Program, after initial training. The individual must submit to assessments to determine courses they will be eligible to teach. Areas candidates assess at over 85%, they are eligible to teach. Faculty must be proficient in 75% of all areas of Aircraft General prior to hiring, in 75% of all areas of Airframe by the end of the second semester, and in 75% of all AMT areas before the end of the first year of employment. The individual must meet Transportation Security Administration (TSA) badging requirements to function in the Airport Operating Area at Piedmont Triad International (PTI) airport.
Education Required: 
-Associates Degree in an Aviation field from a regionally accredited college/university 
-Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License.


Education Preferred: 
-Bachelors' degree in Aviation or a related field from a regionally accredited college/university 
-Avionics and Electronics background experience and/or formalized training (FCC/AET)


Experience Required: 
-Three years aviation related industry experience 
-Teaching and/or industry training experience in aviation topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars


Experience Preferred: 
-Greater than 3 years of aviation related industry experience 
-Post-secondary teaching experience in a Part 147 or industry technical environment. 
-Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes 
-Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
