Ohio University (OHIO) seeks an innovative senior enrollment leader ready to join a national university in the midst of transformation and guide a new strategic vision for enrollment management that embraces today’s complex prospect pool and the emerging technologies necessary to effectively recruit them. Reflecting the significant importance of this role in OHIO’s future, University leadership recently elevated the enrollment structure and title. OHIO’s Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM) will report directly to President M. Duane Nellis, with a dotted line to Executive Vice President and Provost Elizabeth Sayrs, and will be presented with a significant opportunity to build upon OHIO's institutional strengths to imagine, develop, and execute an ambitious plan for institution-wide enrollment.

With its historic main campus in Athens; five regional campuses; three extension campuses in the Columbus, Cleveland, and Dayton areas; and one of the largest enrollments of online students among public universities in Ohio, the University has a collective enrollment of over 33,000 students. The stunning 1,740-acre main campus is located in what has been named one of America’s best college towns. The campus seamlessly merges with Uptown Athens, which is rich with local food culture and walking distance from historic neighborhoods. Established by the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 and chartered in 1804, Ohio University is the state’s first institution of higher education and one of America’s oldest public universities. Today, OHIO is classified as a research university with high research activity by the Carnegie Foundation. As the nation and world continue to shift in the midst of a global pandemic, Ohio University is focused on delivering the best possible student experience while maintaining the health and safety of its students, faculty, staff and communities.

As a member of the President’s Council, the new Vice President for Enrollment Management will partner with an energized and deeply committed senior leadership team during a pivotal and dynamic time of innovation to deliver the optimal enrollment program for OHIO to meet the needs of today and for the future. The next VPEM will lead the conversation about new enrollment opportunities and play a critical role in adapting the University's strategic approach to enrollment management in a rapidly changing environment. The VPEM will lead admissions (first-year, transfer, international, online undergraduate, regional, part-time, non-degree and summer), student financial aid and scholarships, and the registrar, and will provide the strategic vision for enrollment across a multi-campus system and across all modalities. As a collaborative partner, the VPEM will lead an effort that is highly coordinated with and responsive to the needs of the colleges and regional campuses and will provide support for retention and student success. Of significance, the VPEM will put tremendous effort into continuing to diversify the Ohio University student body, furthering a campus environment that is accessible, inclusive, and affirming for all students.

The successful candidate will be a bold and forward-thinking enrollment professional with a demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity in all its forms, excellence, and access. The new leader will possess the skill to lead enrollment in a complex environment; exceptional strategic skills, analytical capacity, and technological sophistication; knowledge of new enrollment communication strategies, including digital recruitment techniques; and an understating of holistic enrollment across all modalities with attention to the entire student lifecycle. The personal values of integrity, teamwork, and compassion, as well as the ability to always put students first, are essential.

Inquiries, nominations, and applications are invited. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. For fullest consideration, applicant materials should be received by October 26, 2020.

Candidates should provide, as two separate attachments, a resume and a letter of application that addresses the responsibilities and requirements described in the leadership profile, found here. Professional references are not necessary this time. Application materials should be submitted using WittKieffer’s candidate portal.

Nominations and inquiries can be directed to Ohio University’s consultants, Amy Crutchfield and Sarah Miller, at Ohio_Enrollment@wittkieffer.com.
