Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Associate Director for Transfer Admissions primarily develops and leads a variety of activities to recruit and enroll a qualified and diverse transfer class. Leading a robust team of counselors, the Associate Director creates an analytical recruitment plan, coordinates and maintains articulation agreements with community colleges, plans and implements recruitment and yield activities and develops processes to review, assess and admit applicants.

The Associate Director will work closely with the Director of Admissions and other enrollment offices to implement a unified transfer pathway for our prospective students.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

•Master’s Degree
•Excellent communication and customer service skills
•A minimum of 3-5 years in transfer admissions
•Experience with establishing and building connections with community colleges
•Demonstrated experience in collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

•Proficiency with marketing and communication plan development
•Strong interpersonal skills
• At least two years of experience supervising staff
•Thorough understanding of post-secondary education systems and transfer admissions.
•Proven track record that demonstrates exceptional skills in organization, communication, marketing, management, collaboration, interpersonal relations and the ability to effectively manage competing, conflicting demands.
•Proven record of building strong and positive working relationships with peers and diverse groups and organizations, including community and military partners.
•Team player with the ability to work collaboratively with other offices, university staff and faculty.
•Demonstrated high commitment to service excellence, diversity and equity.
•Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
•Valid Driver’s License.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

To recruit, admit and enroll students who will perform successfully in the collegiate community. Daily contact with the public, including contact with professionals in all disciplines of the university is involved. The office engages in a wide range of activities designed to publicize and describe the programs, activities and other opportunities available at UNCW .
