The Institute for Veterans and Military Families’ ( IVMF ) research and analytics (R&A) team is seeking an analyst to support a portfolio of internal and sponsored research, evaluation, and analytics efforts. In this role, the research and evaluation analyst will be responsible for supporting, facilitating, and managing projects and initiatives for designated IVMF portfolio areas. This role is critical to the success of the work conducted by the R&A team and is expected to contribute to the ability of internal and external client teams to apply insights to their work on behalf of military-connected individuals.

Qualifications

• At least one (1) year of experience and an M.P.H, M.P.A. or M.P.P. preferred. M.A., or M.S. in the social sciences, public or business administration, or related disciplines or at least two (2) years of work experience and a B.A. or B.S. in the social sciences or related disciplines.

• Prior work experience supporting, coordinating, or managing projects in some or all of the position responsibility areas.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Superior critical thinking and written and oral communication skills required.

• Analytical reasoning skills, and ability evaluate complex information to offer interpretations, identify patterns, and pinpoint issues.

• Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional.

• Experience with business intelligence/analytic tools, data visualization, and digital dashboards highly desirable.

• Project/program management experience and training highly desirable.

• Familiarity with statistical (e.g., STATA, SPSS, SAS ), survey (e.g., Qualtrics), and qualitative analysis (Atlas.ti, NVivo) software packages, with proficiency highly desirable.

• Preference to those with experience working with veteran, military, and/or military family stakeholders, universities or think tanks, and familiarity with government programs and services for veteran and families.

Responsibilities

Reporting and Analytics:
• Serve as `translator between program/project team members and the data management team to facilitate requirements gathering, adherence to data governance and data security policies, and successful roll out of reports and tools.

• Work with data management team to ensure successful development and deployment of standard reports and dashboards, grant proposals and reports, responses to ad hoc requests for data, and accompanying documentation.

• Perform analysis on data to inform new reports, visualizations, and other data products.

Evaluation and Research:
• Support survey development, dissemination, analysis, and communication of results to appropriate audience(s) for projects.

• Conduct and support other data collection, analysis, and reporting on projects as defined by the scope and methods of the project.

• Support development and maintenance of theory of change, formulation of outcome measures, and review and/or modification of KPIs for designated program(s).

Quality and Learning:
• Develop knowledge and expertise in program and project subject matter areas.

• Share insights from research, data, policy, and experts with program and project teams.

• Communicate learning from programs back to broader R&A team to inform direction and storytelling.

• Work with team quality lead to design and implement projects, measures, and practices to ensure continuous improvement of internal initiatives.

Project and Liaison Functions:
• Assist with the management of students assigned to projects.

• Develop and maintain relationships with project and program leads.

• Support grant/proposal writing for projects and programs.

• Support and coordinate additional projects, programs, and operational needs as appropriate.

Writing, Presenting, and Engagements:
• Prepare and give presentations to program/project staff, partners, and stakeholders.

• Support presentation of findings at conferences, convenings, and in public forums.

• Write and support the writing of blogs, reports, white papers, and related written materials.
