General Summary/Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Research Assistant is to assist the PI in designing, prototyping and testing endoscopy software algorithms.

Note:This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Project Management:

    Able to grasp clearly the project’s goals and assist PI in formulating a plan to reach those objectives in a timely manner. Make presentations regarding the research project. Able to adapt to real-time changes and challenges.

Data Collection:

    Perform data collection and related work to complete study goals. Perform data entry ensuring complete and accurate database entry. Create and maintain databases. Maintain records for various research projects.

Data Analysis:

    Perform statistical tests to interpret collected data.

Research Compliance:

    Edit and complete eIRB and AUCUC submissions, including new projects, continuing review, termination reports, and further study actions. Ensure adherence to study protocols and study quality.

Research Coordination:

    Prepare manuscripts for publication on the research project. Assist in preparing and submitting research grant applications.

Information Systems:

    Literature searches and develop/maintain reference databases. Conduct reviews of the scientific literature and maintain bibliography.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

    Bachelor's degree in related discipline required.
  • Some related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with software tools for machine learning.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
