JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis (UIndy) Department of Theatre in the Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences seeks applicants for an Adjunct Professor of Scenic Design to begin January 2021. This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible position.

Teaching responsibilities will include Scenic Design, Stagecraft, and Introduction to Theatre Design and may include Computer Applications for Theatre and/or Theatre Production.

UIndy is located minutes from downtown Indianapolis’s vibrant arts scene. The Department of Theatre maintains a close relationship with numerous professional and professionally managed theatres providing opportunities for faculty members to design outside the university. The department also hires local professional designers and actors as adjuncts or guest artists, allowing for a collaborative relationship on campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach classes relating to Scenic Design, Stagecraft, Introduction to Theatre Design, Computer Applications for Theatre and/or Theatre Production


QUALIFICATIONS

  • MFA in Theatre with an emphasis on Scenic Design or related field is required
  • One to two years of applicable university teaching and/or professional experience is highly desirable, including industry standard computer applications
