Job Summary

We are encouraging applications for a Postdoctoral Associate that will mainly support the measurement work of wireless coexistence systems, and support the development of spectrum sharing theory, metrology techniques, and industrial standards.

The researcher will provide significant support on experimental design, implementation, and data post-processing of wireless coexistence systems, such as 4G LTE unlicensed, 5G New Radio (NR), and beyond, mmWave communication, and WLAN, and technically lead some aspects of the work. The work will involve setup and programming of software-defined radio (SDR), commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) device, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, CBRS device, and 4G and 5G base-station emulators (such as eNodeB and gNodeB) to support coexistence test at multiple frequency bands and systems.
The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.

Who We Are

The Professional Research Experience Program (PREP) is a special partnership between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the University of Colorado Boulder. PREP provides research opportunities to CU undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in NIST labs to gain research experience alongside NIST scientists.

The Shared Spectrum Metrology Group is at the forefront of carrying on measurements and research of wireless coexistence systems, such as constructive coexistence of 4G, 5G and Beyond, and WLAN/WPAN systems in unlicensed, licensed, or licensed-assisted access spectrum bands. The group addresses the new coexistence systems and technical challenges through novel test methodologies that incorporate modeling, analysis, and meticulous experiments to achieve goals set by spectrum regulators and partners. The laboratory contains state-of-the-art commercial full-stack implementations of wireless systems, emulators, and test facilities. The group is proposing to recruit one Post-doctorate Fellow to support the spectrum sharing experiments and research.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Implement research and experiments as guided by the Group and Project Leaders.
  • Prepare technical documents for publication in internal and external venues (such as IEEE journals and conferences).
  • Support the preparation of program and project plans and proposals.

What You Should Know

The candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S.A. by the time of application. (A U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S.).
