Job Summary
Tutor students in various Biology courses taught at Johnson County Community College. Other responsibilities include referring students to appropriate resources, assist students with computer software necessary for the courses, mentoring new tutors and working in outreach programs and other duties as requested by the supervisor. Tutoring will include both online and some in person sessions.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related field with successful completion of college level Biology courses including Zoology, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology and Genetics
• At least 1 year tutoring or teaching experience required
• Must be familiar with laboratory techniques
• Must be able to help with computer programs
• Good communication skills, including listening with understanding and patience
• Ability to explain concepts in Biology, both orally and in written form in a one to one or small group setting
