Quinnipiac University's School of Communications' top-ranked journalism program seeks an inspiring educator who has mastered the ins and outs of TV news reporting to join our faculty as a tenure-seeking assistant professor beginning Fall 2021. While Quinnipiac’s Journalism major is not divided into tracks, students have flexibility within the curriculum to concentrate on broadcast news. The successful candidate to fill this vacancy will teach required courses, as well as have the freedom and resources to develop courses around their expertise and interests. They may also teach in our Master’s programs in Journalism and Sports Journalism. This is a 9.5 month appointment.

We balance hands-on skills training with instruction in the liberal arts to prepare students for exciting and rewarding careers in advertising and integrated communications; communications/media studies; film, television and media arts; graphic and interactive design; journalism; and public relations. Responsibilities:

• Teach six classes per academic year with opportunities to teach in the summer
• Maintain an academic research or creative portfolio
• Perform service for the school and university
• Advise undergraduate majors

Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have achieved or be working toward a Ph.D., taught at the college level, have at least three years professional experience and evidence of excellence in professional, research or creative work

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in a related field, five years professional experience and some teaching experience

Experience as an on-air TV reporter, ideally as an MMJ

Ability to teach courses such as: TV Reporting, Advanced TV Reporting, Broadcast Performance, Broadcast News Writing and related courses

Ability to teach digital skills as they relate to traditional broadcast roles

Commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community
