Job Summary

Provides technical and supervisory skills in planning, organizing, and directing the care and maintenance of college grounds including responsibilities for and general beautification. First point of contact for contracted grounds and landscaping to all downtown facilities. Provide oversight for local specific in-house contracts including but not limited to window cleaning, in-door plant maintenance, art cleaning, and parking lot sweeping. This position reports to the Campus Facilities Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, assigns and supervises the landscaping, seeding, weeding, cultivating and general care of grounds
• Plans and supervises cultivation, pruning, spraying, watering and transplanting of a large variety of shrubs and trees
• Prepares working sketches for the development, improvement or expansion of landscaped areas
• Distributes materials and equipment for grounds maintenance work
• Applies and/or supervises the application of pesticides and other grounds related chemicals
• Develops and maintains an efficient and workable landscaping program plus pesticide and chemical records
• Manages in-house service contracts such as indoor plants, window cleaning, and artwork cleaning
• Inspects grounds with contracted grounds manager
• Interviews and recommends suitable grounds applicants for employment
• Prepares periodic reports of work, manages employee workloads, and closes work orders
• Coordinates and assigns movers for intra-campus moves
• Performs all other related duties as assigned
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma ( GED )
• Two (2) years administrative, clerical or supervisory experience
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with computerized systems
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Associate’s degree or 60 college hours from a regionally accredited college or university
• Six (6) months grounds keeping experience
• Prior experience with the operation of fork-lifts and tractors
