Job Description:
In partnership with the College of Education, the Assistant Director for the Office of Field and International Experience (OFIE) will place P-12 teacher candidates within sites in public school districts. The Assistant Director will facilitate, manage, and nurture relationship building. In addition, the Assistant Director will serve as the instructor for College of Education First Year Experience courses, co-teach seminars for student teachers or other teacher preparation related courses. The Assistant Director will also be involved with collaborative planning, preparation and delivery of professional development activities for students, university and/or public school faculty.

The Assistant Director will develop, deliver and implement professional development programs for student teacher, P-12 teachers, University faculty, and more as it relates to teacher preparation, placement and success. In addition, the incumbent will be involved in decisions about program activities and program improvements.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree* in any field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree* in Education or Equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience with P-12 schools.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License. (Approximately 15% travel required in Minnesota to meet with K-12 school representatives to secure field placements.)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Demonstrated ability for creative problem solving and the ability to understand complex systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with multi data management systems, such as File Maker Pro, Access, TK20, Agile Grad.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the co-teaching model, teacher performance assessments, and the edTPA.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in coaching, mentoring, and assessment of teach and/or teacher candidate performance.
  • Demonstrated experience with instructional/educational technology.
  • Demonstrated skill with word processing and excel.
  • Demonstrated skill with oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability for handling multiple projects simultaneously

Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
