PAFA is seeking a faculty member in Illustration with a passion for teaching, and the ability to translate key illustration and design principles for a fine arts student body.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced illustrator who is currently working in the field. Applicants should have professional experience in editorial and narrative illustration, illustrated books, and graphic design, as well as experience in multiple media, including digital painting and vector drawing. They may also have experience in other aspects of illustration and visual narrative, such as comics, storyboarding, poster design, visual development, or UI design.

The candidate will also have a deep interest in incorporating professional practice training at every level of study in order to give students a fighting chance to make it in this demanding field. They will be eager to collaborate with their colleagues across disciplines to build interdepartmental bridges and support students in all areas of the school.

PAFA’s diverse student body includes students working across disciplines in an environment that is both rigorous and supportive.  Outstanding facilities, including printmaking and sculpture shops, digital labs, and a paper making studio, allow for hybrid and interdisciplinary approaches. PAFA’s museum exhibitions and collections provide an immense resource for faculty to teach from.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates will have a Master of Fine Arts degree or equivalent experience, at least two years of teaching experience, and a strong professional record. Faculty members are expected to excel at teaching, keep active professional lives, and engage in the life of the institution through activities such as advising, overseeing independent study projects, and serving on committees.
