PLACEMENT : Professional staff, grade S08
MINIMUM PAY RATE : $52,618 annually

Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY
The Employment Advisor supports the educational and occupational growth of students by developing and delivering comprehensive student internship, employment, and career development services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead the development and implementation of a viable internship program; assist students in securing appropriate internship and employment opportunities.
2. Advise students with job seeking skills including resume and cover letter writing, and interviewing.
3. Work collaboratively with faculty and administration to create policy and procedures for ensuring the academic quality and integrity of internships.
4. Conduct site visits to evaluate appropriateness and relevance of internships for students.
5. Develop and facilitate workshops and trainings on a variety of job search topics.
6. Research and cultivate potential employer partners for opportunities that expand experiential learning activities and promote out-of-the-classroom experiences related to academic studies and career direction.
7. Lead and coordinate programs such as job and internship fairs and on-campus recruitment events.
8. Oversee processes and policies for internships in compliance with Department of Labor, Illinois Community College Board, NACE, and Fair Labor Standards Act policies.
9. Plan, monitor and control the fiscal and budgetary functions for various internship grant programs.
10. Partner with academic departments to strengthen communication with and between employers, students, and faculty to identify and promote internships and work opportunities.
11. Resolve issues that may occur between students and employers. Advise appropriate corrective action and communicate student rights and responsibilities.
12. Monitor applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations regarding employment practices to ensure compliance.
13. Compile data and prepare various monthly and quarterly employment reports.
14. Perform related duties as assigned.
