The SBDC Business Advisor is a volunteer position that fosters a strong climate for small business growth by providing in-depth, confidential business advising and resources to local small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Required Qualification
B.A., B.S., or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of five (5) years of experience in either business ownership or operations and/or equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in business and the ability to provide advice on a variety of issues related to startup and successful operation of a small business.

• Interview and assess client needs.
• Advise SBDC clients on one or more of the following areas to assist in starting and expanding successful small businesses:
o Business planning
o Financial analysis
o Accounting and bookkeeping
o Marketing and sales
o Supply chain concepts
o Basic business policies
o Local, state and federal business regulations
o Access to capital
o Innovation and technology
• Refer clients to other internal and external small business success resources.
• Ensure timely and accurate input of client data into the center’s information management system.
• Promote the SBDC and advocate for small business through discussions and presentations.
• Other duties as assigned by the Center Director.
