Scope of Job:
The UTRGV SOM is seeking Board Certified physicians in Internal Medicine with experience in teaching residents both in the inpatient and outpatient clinical setting and in the classroom. In addition, they will participate in scholarly activity, faculty development, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, prepare and provide didactics, participate in the evaluation of the residents, program, and preparation for CLER and RRC site visits. While previous experience in a residency program teaching role is preferred, individuals just finishing residency training are highly encouraged to apply.
As faculty, they will also administer and maintain a professional educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competencies and in assisting them to reach their individual Milestones. Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with academic experience and credentials.


Minimum Qualifications:
MD, DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution and licensed in the State of Texas


Discipline Specific Required Qualifications:
ACGME training or equivalent and Board Certification


Preferred Qualification:
Experience in a GME Accredited Position or Program.

Additional Information:
UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.

test score of 500 (computer-based of 173 or internet-based of 61) on the Test of
