The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), a pre-eminent public research university, invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the position of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the CHRO is the principal steward of the human capital of the university, providing institutional leadership and service. The CHRO will serve as a strategic partner with university departments and academic units to support workforce planning, recruitment, compensation studies, leadership development and retention of personnel. In addition, the CHRO will oversee the day-to-day operations and activities of the Human Resources department and will nurture a culture of collaboration and communication, grounded in best practices. The successful candidate will establish a collaborative working relationship with the newly formed Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in support of initiatives to advance workforce diversity, inclusiveness and employment equity, among others.

 

The new CHRO will play a pivotal role in fully implementing a comprehensive transformation of human resources policies, practices, and technologies over the next several years. The CHRO will guide and develop the human resources team by establishing a vision and strategic priorities based in service, partnership, innovation and flexibility. This role requires an innovative, highly driven executive focused on contemporary human resources delivery. This includes expanding the human resources team's strategic competencies; ensuring delivery of high-level, proactive support; sophisticating business processes, policies and practices; and fostering a culture of inclusion.

 

The successful candidate will possess experience leading high performing teams through organizational change within a large, complex enterprise, have a strong understanding of the academic mission and context and possess exceptional communication and leadership skills. A bachelor's degree in human resources, business/public administration or related field is required, as is a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources and five years in a senior level role. Candidates with an advanced or terminal degree are preferred.
