Administrative Specialist

 

The E. Craig Wall of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University is seeking candidates for the position of Administrative Specialist II (full time position with benefits). The position provides administrative support to the Department Chair in the Marketing and Hospitality Resort Tourism department as well as Wall Center for Excellence.

 

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: providing support for instruction activities of faculty by copying exams/handouts, reserving instructional equipment and rooms, maintaining faculty schedules, contact info and syllabi; managing departmental operations by assisting the department chair, controlling access to facilities, generating mass mailing, maintaining files, assisting faculty with Datatel, keeping track of departmental supplies and record keeping of all travel for the department by processing travel authorizations, and maintaining the departmental budget; providing support for faculty research by preparing documents as needed, entering data into and maintaining databases, proofreading, and assisting with preparation of research papers as needed; providing support for the Wall Center for Advising by scheduling new student orientations, setting up advising sessions, maintaining student files and processing general petitions for the Assistant Dean; and assisting with organizing college wide events by booking spaces, ordering food and other supplies as needed as well as filling out necessary forms for processing.

 

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of two (2) years administrative support related work experience. Equivalent education, training, and experience will be considered. Previous experience in higher education is preferred. Successful candidates should also possess: proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook; ability to self-start and work independently in implementing administrative procedures; efficient and accurate academic file management and record-keeping skills; and effective oral and written communication skills. Position requires the ability to work with students, faculty and staff along with the public with discretion and good judgment in applying departmental and program policy and procedures.
