Summary
Baylor College of Medicine has an opening for a full-time Ophthalmology faculty position at The Children's Hospital of San Antonio. This position comes with a faculty appointment, a competitive salary, and a full benefits package. The candidates' credentials and experience will determine the rank of the academic appointment.
Job Duties
Responsibilities include admit, evaluate, diagnose, consult, order diagnostic studies and procedures and preform surgical and non-surgical procedures to neonates, children, and adult with Ocular and visual disorders, the eye and its component structures, the eyelids, the orbit and the visual pathways. May provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies. Assess, stabilize and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency consultative call services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum Education: MD/DO degree, successful completion of an Accreditation council for graduate medical education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited residency in ophthalmology, and additional formal training in pediatric ophthalmology.
- Minimum Certification/Licenses: Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (or eligible for same);
- Board certification in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology or the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology or eligible for same;
- Experience: Demonstrate current competence and evidence of at least 25 pediatric ophthalmologic consultations, and/or procedures with acceptable results, reflective of the scope of privileges requested, for the past 24 months based on results of ongoing professional practice evaluation and outcomes.
