Allegheny College, a small, selective liberal arts college located in northwest Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Public Services Technician. This is a full-time, exempt, administrative position reporting to the Director of Public Services, Library and Information Technology Services (LITS).

We are seeking a technical problem solver with exemplary customer service and communication skills to support the College’s strategic and operational goals, including diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. In collaboration with other Public Service team members and the Technology Manager, the technician provides expert installation, maintenance, and support of computers, laptops, printers, classroom and presentation technology, and related software. The successful candidate must be able to troubleshoot and resolve desktop support issues including, but not limited to, Windows and Mac operating systems, standard office software, G Suite for Education, and user accounts. Effective resolution and tracking of issues while providing an excellent client experience is essential.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or the development of equivalent skills through professional experience providing hardware and software support. We are seeking a dynamic, multifaceted individual who is easily adaptable and enjoys helping people, learning new skills, collaborating with team members, and tackling complex problems. Excellent interpersonal and listening skills, ability to problem solve and prioritize multiple competing needs, and an eagerness to learn are essential. Candidates with the ability to identify and apply industry best practices through the lens of institutional need and culture are desired.
