Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Health Professions Coordinator for North Idaho College Workforce Training Center, this position will provide specialization in leading the training activities for several sections of Nursing Assistant & related Continuing Education courses offered in the Health Professions department. This position will ensure excellence in teaching and learning by providing high quality and relevant practical and theory instruction in nursing assistant and related continuing education for health care professionals. This position will follow and comply with state and national credentialing rules in preparing students for examination. Serves as key team member to the Health Professions Program Coordinator in ensuring quality instruction, curriculum development and classroom operations.

Job Duties:

This list includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Instructs and coordinates daily activity of the Nursing Assistant and related Continuing Education for Health Professions.
  • Develop nursing assistant class schedules, syllabi, clinical placement calendar, teaching resources and related activities, including guest speakers, field trips and lab instruction
  • Supervises nursing assistant students in the lab and clinical setting. Identifies student needs/problems to the extent feasible and provides the necessary connection to appropriate resources for resolution. Prepares and supervises the online instructional delivery method for the nursing assistant eLearning sections.

  • Participates in student recruitment, curriculum development, and serves on college committees.
  • Assists Health Professions Coordinator in cultivating effective public relations with various community and educational partners.
  • Maintains and monitors the learning lab and ensures equipment and supplies are adequate for quality instruction.
  • Coordinates with Sr. Administrative Assistant the following Nursing Assistant operational activities: Schedule, coordinate and facilitate all Nursing Assistant clinical activities including, but not limited to: badge acquisitions, immunization and background clearance, and clinical rotation onboarding.
  • Participates and assists in holding CNA & other related advisory board and instructor meetings. Participates in professional development activities and supports the nursing assistant adjunct instructor pool.
  • Participates in professional development activities and supports the nursing assistant adjunct instructor pool with orientation and mentorship as needed.
  • Maintains a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, students, and the community.




Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience : Associate’s Degree and 3 year(s) of experience

Additional Minimum Qualifications :

Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution; and minimum of three years related experience and training.
• A current, unencumbered professional nursing license in Idaho.
• Ability to attain Quality Matters (APPQMR) certificate within six months of hire.
• Three years of experience in long –term or chronic care

Required License and/or Certifications :

• A current, unencumbered professional nursing license in Idaho.
• Ability to attain Quality Matters (APPQMR) certificate within six months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrated knowledge of OBRA, Idaho Career & Technical Education Nursing Assistant Curriculum, Idaho Board of Nursing rules regarding unlicensed personnel and Department of Health & Welfare.
• Ability to conduct effective training and presentations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient skills using Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to operate standard office equipment including phone, fax, copier
