Position Summary:

Duties will be performed under the supervision of the Clinical Manager of Primary Care. The individual in this position will provide direct clinical care to the student community at University Health Services. A portion of clinical time may also be spent at the satellite Lakeshore facility located at Dejope Hall. Additionally the individual will mentor medical students and participate in quality improvement activities and activities that connect University Health Services to campus life. Collaborate with other MDs, RNs, PAs, mental health professionals, dieticians, and other health care staff in the care of student patients. The UHS population consists of 40,000 + 18-60 year old patients. The provider will be expected to perform their roles in a nonjudgmental and nondiscriminatory manner in accordance with UHS policies. They will contribute to a supportive, healthy and safe work environment that promotes mutual respect. They will maintain electronic medical records and maintain patient confidentiality.

This position will participate in UHS training programs for health professions students by serving as a clinical preceptor, developing and delivering educational lectures to both students and patients.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner in Wisconsin

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Certification as a Nurse Practitioner with a focus on caring for the young adult/adult population.
Five years of experience in primary care college health in a Nurse Practioner

Well qualified applicant will have experience in evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and office procedures including, but not limited to, laceration repair, incision and drainage, skin biopsy, ingrown toenail removal and cryotherapy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Ability to work independently in clinical practice.
Strong interest and background in teaching and training, sensitivity to a diverse student community, and a demonstrated ability to provide culturally competent and sensitive medical services to a racially, ethnically and culturally diverse population.

License or Certificate:

Current license or able to obtain license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Wisconsin
