Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for assisting in the operations, maintenance and repairs for a set of buildings that are a part of University Housing Residence Halls, including the repairing and maintaining mechanical systems and equipment including, as well as, various electrical, minor plumbing and carpentry repairs. In addition to repairs, this position is expected to perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance actions on vehicles and equipment. This position is a member of the Residence Hall Facilities Maintenance team and is expected to work with and learn from others on the team.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

No Degree Required

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

- A driver's license which meets the UW Risk Management standards is required
- One year general maintenance experience in a commercial or large-scale residential environment preferred
- Demonstrated leadership experience preferred
- Experience performing routine vehicle maintenance preferred
- Experience operating snow plows, bobcats, or similar commercial snow removal machines preferred

Physical requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a routine basis; Ability to walk, stand, lift, carry, bend, stoop and climb for the majority of each shift.

Work Schedule:

Schedule will be determined upon hire. Typical hours are within 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand. Provide after hours, weekend and holiday on-call coverage as directed or necessitated by the job.
