The Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering (IMSE) at West Virginia University (WVU) invites applications and nominations for a faculty position at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor in Probabilistic Machine Learning. Anticipated start date is August 2021. The specific research areas of interest for this faculty position include but are not limited to the theory and practice of statistical analysis, data mining, machine learning, and artificial intelligence within application domains such as energy, logistics/supply chains, smart manufacturing, and health.
Eligible candidates must hold at the time of appointment an earned doctorate in Industrial Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline, with at least one degree in Industrial Engineering. The successful candidates must have the ability to (1) develop and sustain an independent, nationally recognized, externally-sponsored research program, (2) teach lecture, laboratory or design courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, (3) collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams of faculty and other researchers across colleges and institutions, and (4) be engaged in professional activities. Candidates for the rank of Associate Professor must have an outstanding record of teaching, research and service.

The WVU Statler College currently has seven academic departments, over 4,200 students, and 135 faculty members with about 22 million in annual external research expenditures. The college is nationally recognized for high quality teaching and research as well as its excellent faculty and students. The IMSE Department has 11 faculty members, 320 undergraduate, and 120 graduate students. The Department offers degrees at the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. levels.
