The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Florida is seeking applications at the Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor level for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12 month non-tenure-track position starting in the Spring 2021 semester. Primary job duties involve coordination of the clinical education program for students in the Master of Arts degree program for speech-language pathology and teaching associated graduate courses that pertain to clinical practice. With regard to clinical coordination, responsibilities include assigning students’ clinical practicum placements, tracking student progress toward attainment of clinical certification requirements, developing and overseeing affiliation agreements with external clinical placement sites, and overseeing a clinical simulation program that augments students’ face-to-face and telehealth practicum experiences. Opportunities for additional teaching in the applicant’s area(s) of expertise are also possible.

The University of Florida is a comprehensive doctoral research-extensive university that includes a full range of academic departments and programs ( www.ufl.edu ). The Department of SLHS is housed within UF’s College of Public Health and Health Professions ( https://phhp.ufl.edu/ ), and it is well integrated with UF’s Health Science Center and its extensive clinical network as well as many other clinical and educational sites in the area. The UF Health Science Center is one of the largest in the nation, with six separate colleges. Our Master’s program offers students an assortment of unique clinical training experiences in an interdisciplinary practice setting.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum requirement to be hired at the level of Lecturer is a Master’s degree.

Minimum requirement to be hired at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor is a PhD or equivalent.

Applicants also are required to hold the American Speech Language Hearing Association’s (ASHA’s) Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and be licensed in Florida for speech-language pathology or be eligible for a Florida license in speech-language pathology.

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have a minimum of five years of full-time experience with clinical service provision in speech-language pathology and at least three years of experience with providing clinical education/supervision to graduate speech-language pathology students (or comparable experience in activities associated with clinical administration). Other preferred qualifications include experience with directing clinical simulations, experience with telehealth practice, familiarity with medical speech-language pathology, and experience with college-level teaching. Demonstration of strong interpersonal and organizational skills and effective written and oral communication skills is essential.
