Objective

THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PERKINS COORDINATOR IS TO PROVIDE THE DAILY OVERSIGHT OF PERKINS V GRANT AND SERVE AS THE LIAISON BETWEEN BLINN COLLEGE DISTRICT AND THE TEXAS HIGHER EDUCATION COORDINATING BOARD . OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE DEVELOPING, IMPLEMENTING, AND ASSESSING OF SERVICES AND PROGRAMS AIMED AT INCREASING CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION ( CTE ) STUDENT COMPLETION . THIS POPULATION MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, NON - TRADITIONAL STUDENTS AND STUDENTS IN SPECIAL POPULATIONS AS DEFINED BY THE PERKINS V GRANT .

Principal Accountabilities

Principal Accountabilities

1. Works with the Recruitment and Retention Committee to develop new recruitment and retention ideas for Career and Technical Programs.
2. Recruits for and advises incoming students of procedures and requirements for CTE Programs.
3. Assist students with program application, eligibility determination, and complete orientation with students.
4. Actively market and recruit at community events, high schools, and other partner locations.
5. Outreach to and maintain contact with students who did not successfully complete the programs to discuss options for returning to school and informing them of what is needed for program completion/graduation.
6. Outreach to completers and graduates to obtain post-completion/graduation data. Complete “Lost Graduates” report.
7. Update the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment ( CLNA ) based on current student data and submit to THECB accordingly.
8. Responsible for the building, organizing, and distributing of the builder-bot projects.
9. Coordinates work efforts with Deans, faculty, and program administrators to prepare the college’s annual Perkins Plan, including development of curriculum for new programs, determining objectives, outcomes, and identifying program needs.
10. Serves as the primary contact between college, THECB, advising faculty and staff on Perkins grant guidelines and regulations, allowable use of grant funds, and ensuring programs, activities, and purchases are in compliance with THECB requirements.
11. Monitors and tracks student success in CTE certificate and Associate programs, as well as in skills attainment and obtaining an industry recognized credential.
12. Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports documenting program activities and fund expenditures, intended outcomes, and success in meeting outcomes, working in collaboration with the Dean, Department Chairs, and college administrators to ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements.
13. Assist with the development and preparation of the annual grant budget and narrative in accordance with Carl D. Perkins guidelines, and submit to THECB by the predetermined deadlines.
14. Works closely with the college’s Business Office to create a budget for personnel, purchasing and other program related expenses using Perkins funds, allocating appropriate level of funds to accounts.
15. Ensures monitoring compliance with Perkins V grant, including but not limited to student completion, student technical skills attainment, documentation of advisory board meetings, etc.
16. Other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications

1.Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher learning
2.At least two years of experience working with the Carl D. Perkins Grant.
3. Must have a valid State of Texas Driver’s license in good standing or ability to obtain one.
4. Must be able to travel on behalf of the college and the college’s travel policies.

1.Ability to read and interpret regulations and policies that impact the CTE programs.
2.Ability to communicate in a professional manner with high-level institutional administrators, instructors, students, and other stakeholders.
3.Knowledge of basic Microsoft Office programs, including but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
4.Ability to follow and abide by Blinn College District policies and procedures.
