Job Summary
The Department of Biological Sciences is looking to hire a full-time (3 year limited term with possibility of renewal based on need, funding, and performance.) Laboratory Technician responsible for the maintenance and management of field and laboratory activities related to the biological research program in Dr. Brian Counterman’s laboratory.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to: Overseeing setup and maintenance of research facilities; conducting field work to collect butterflies for research purposes; performing daily maintenance and care routines for live animal rearing (i.e. butterflies and moths); and managing students involved in laboratory and field activities.

Minimum Skills and Abilities
This job requires a person that can provide a high degree of accuracy, reliability, organization, effective communication, and experience with computers/software. The employee must provide the highest standard of laboratory practices, safety, and professional interactions.
Minimum Technology Skills Minimum License and Certifications
Education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent in life sciences with experience in animal husbandry, field collection of biological specimens, and performing molecular biology methods, and experience in computational biology.
