Library Faculty Position, Decatur Campus

Position and Responsibilities

The Georgia State University Library welcomes to our Decatur campus team an innovative, collegial and service oriented colleague to: coordinate instruction for the campus, be actively involved in outreach throughout the university, provide reference service in-person and online, facilitate course-integrated instruction and resource guides, assist with developing the collection and actively engage and support the research, teaching and learning needs of the faculty, staff and students on campus and community.

We welcome a librarian eager to partner with faculty in their teaching and research and to work with students in their first and second year, primarily in learning the information tools and skills needed to succeed in college and career. This librarian serves as a member of the library faculty (12-month; non-tenure track), holds faculty rank and is expected to participate in service and scholarly activities outlined in the University Library’s faculty guidelines. The library is committed to providing exceptional professional development opportunities to its employees.

This position is based on GSU’s Decatur campus. Perimeter College (https://perimeter.gsu.edu) became a part of Georgia State University in January 2016, as part of a consolidation that formed the largest university in Georgia. Required Qualifications

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in information/library science 
  • Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse library users and colleagues
  • Understanding of the rapidly changing role of the academic library and librarian in higher education 
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

Salary and Rank

Salary commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience. Appointment at faculty rank (Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor) on a contract renewal basis.
