Assistant Professor of Public Administration


The Department of Social Sciences at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) seeks an Assistant Professor of Public Administration (tenure-track, 9-month position) to begin Fall 2021. Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. A reduced load (2-2 for the first two and a half years) is provided to allow for other duties, such as publishing research in Public Administration and/or closely related areas, advising MPA students, participating in MPA program governance, and serving on departmental, College, and University committees. We desire candidates with strong research skills, a strong record of or potential for sustained publication in peer-reviewed journals, the potential for or prior experience with seeking and/or securing external g rant funding, experience working with diverse student populations, and the ability to teach MPA core courses and areas that complement or strengthen our graduate and undergraduate programs.


Required Qualifications


The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate in Public Administration or closely related field. ABDs may be considered but they must have earned a doctorate degree before appointment. We are interested in candidates whose research focuses on two or more of the following dimensions of public administration: theory and practice, public value governance, public service, civic engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion management, using quantitative or qualitative methods.


TAMIU is a growing university of over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant bi­   lingual, bi-cultural city with a population of about 250,000 on the U.S./Mexico border. After the first two years, course load for junior faculty is 3 courses per semester, although we offer opportunities for course releases. Additional pay is available for summer teaching.
