The Department of Nursing at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for a full-time, 10 month, tenure track Instructor.

Major Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include teaching in the RN to BSN program, traditional, accelerated or master's students face-to-face, online and/or hybrid formats; may include teaching courses in the MS-FNP program depending on experience and credentials; advising students in the RN to BSN program; engaging in service to the department and College in terms of committee work, curriculum development, assessment and evaluation; and, engaging in scholarly activity, as well as attending college functions.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.

Unencumbered NYS professional nursing license by the time of appointment.

Knowledge and experience in nursing and health care.

Demonstrated teaching proficiency.

Ability to engage in scholarly activities.

Effective interpersonal skills to work with students, faculty and staff both within the college and practice arenas.

Ability to support and contribute to an environment of diversity and inclusion.

Demonstrated ability to model high standards of honesty, integrity, trust and ethical behavior.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participate with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.

Proficiency with assessment and evaluation of health care organizational structures.

Experience with the development of curriculum.

Experience teaching in the online milieu.

Knowledge of basic computer programs and information technology systems.

Department of Nursing

Twenty-four full-time faculty and staff and over 20 adjunct lecturers work in the Department of Nursing. Faculty teach in four different programs: a pre-licensure traditional BSN program, a pre-licensure second-degree accelerated BSN program, an RN to BSN completion program, and a master's program that prepares Family Nurse Practitioners.
