Associate Vice Provost for Student Aid and Affordability

University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin), one of the world's preeminent research universities, seeks an experienced, strategic and collaborative leader to serve as its next associate vice provost for student aid and affordability.

A motivated and collaborative team member, the individual in this inaugural role will report to Rachelle Hernandez, senior vice provost of enrollment management and student success (EMSS), and serve as a senior member of a strong leadership team to help facilitate the achievement of key strategic outcomes. In addition to participating in the creation and implementation of a strategic vision for enrollment, the associate vice provost for student aid and affordability (AVP) will be responsible for providing leadership for the comprehensive and strategic administration of the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA). One long-range objective of this position will be to lead the build-out of a separate scholarships unit, including the creation of a new director of scholarships position. Additionally, the AVP will provide leadership for the development of research, the implementation of new technical systems, analysis and reporting tools that are necessary to support the university’s enrollment and student success goals.

The successful candidate will have an uncompromising commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, quality service and student advocacy. In addition, the successful candidate will possess a strategic understanding of the integral role of student financial aid in supporting student enrollment, student success and student services and will have knowledge of financial aid trends as they relate to the use and delivery of student financial aid. An experienced leader of people and programs, the new AVP for student aid and affordability will have an ability to operate in a complex environment; demonstrated skill in leading and developing a large professional staff; excellent communication skills; a thorough knowledge of financial aid policies, processes and regulations; and experience with the application of current and emerging technologies to the financial aid process. A Master's degree is required for this position.
